Evidence of Work:
For this project my group and I were assigned to pick an everyday object and take it apart and then redesign it. The object that we chose was a pencil sharpener that did work. Some of the problems that we faced were what ideas we had to come up with for the redesign. we then brainstormed all of the ideas that we could possibly work on. The one that we stuck with to the end of the project was to make the pencil sharpener smaller and also portable. We were unable to complete this due to not enough time and did not have all the parts we needed to construct the new design. Our group had to work very well together to complete this project, there were many steps to this project that we had to work all together to complete them. We went through a series of steps, each individual was assigned different tasks to be time efficient but we all helped each other when we were stuck on a step.
For our end result, we had a whole presentation containing everything we did for our reverse engineering step by step document. we first took apart the whole pencil sharpener and operated the external parts and internal parts. We looked at each piece in depth to study them and see how we could improve them. all of the internal parts were linked together, so if we made one smaller, we would have to make all of them smaller. To make it portable we would have had to hook up a large battery where the cord was so it could be powered off that. We were unable to recreate anything different than our original, although we did have very doable and good ideas, however did not have enough time or materials.

Content:
There was a lot of content in this project that we had to accomplish, one of the main concepts that we used for this project was the Design process. This process consists of a lot of steps:
1. Define the problem
2. Generate alternative concepts
3. Evaluate and select concept
4. Detail the design
5. Designing a defense
6. Manufacturing a prototype
7. Evaluate performances
8. Preparing the final design report
Reverse Engineering Process: The design process offers a step by step procedure for getting started as well as strategies for breaking down complex problems into smaller parts.
Exploded view: is a diagram picture, schematic or technical drawing of an object, that shows the relationship or order of assembly of various parts. It shows the components of an object slightly separated by distance, or suspended in surrounding space in the case of a three-dimensional exploded diagram. This was used in our project by putting these diagrams into our presentation and thoroughly explaining them to give the audience a visual representation of our object.
Reflection:
One thing that I learned about myself was how well I can work with some of my pears. I thought that we all worked very well together with very little off task work and very little disagreements. My group and I all worked together on many of the steps and helped each-other on each step through the process. I though that I did well with working with my classmates through hard times when we were struggling on certain parts. Another thing that went well in our group was communication. When we were a little bit behind because a member of our group was not there, we reached out to them and made sure that all of our work was going to be done the following day.
One thing that I saw myself struggling with was the purpose in the beginning. My group and I thought that we had to construct something at the very beginning which was not the case. This set us back a little because we were unsure on what we were supposed to be working on. I want to improve on this by paying more attention in class when my teacher is giving out directions. another problem that I faced was time management. At times I would see myself getting distracted and not completing my work. this lead to me having to finish the work that I did not finish in class at home. I want to work on this by completing all of my work in class so I do not have to finish it for homework.
