My group and I chose to study and make a model of the digestive and excretory systems. Throughout this project, I gained a lot of knowledge on these two systems.
For this project my group and I first drew out diagrams for what we wanted our systems to look like. After we moved from our original classroom to the worker space so we had proper materials to build our systems. The first day for building, my group and I accomplished a lot. I had found a base, face, and esophagus, and a stomach for our project. After I had sculpted all these materials together to settle first part of the digestive system done, I had stored it in a corner that my teacher provided. The next day when we came to work on it the whole thing was destroyed by another jealous group and we had to restart. With these setbacks it was much harder to get caught up with all the groups, but we still maaged to finish in time and it went really weel. For the excretory system, I did not work on as much, One of my group members did this whole section and did a great job. John helped me with the digestive system with small stuff and i helped him when he needed help. Our other group member wrote the script and added all the detail so it was perfect. Mouth- Breaks down the food to be traveled down to the esophagus, represented by a can on the face Esophagus- A muscular tube to conduct the food from the mouth to the stomach, a long strong tube was represented as this. Stomach- Breaks down the food more with acids, a bag was used for this with green coloring representing the acids. small/large intestine- These organs were represented as a small and a large tube, these organs absorb all the nutrients in the food and drink when they come through them. colon- this is were the unwanted food and drink leave the body, represented by small food. Dorsal Aorta- this gives branches to the yolk sac, represented as a pipe. Kidneys- this filters blood to prodence urine, these were represented as cups that were spray painted red. Ureters-represented by tubes and glue, these propel urine from the kidneys to the bladder. bladder-stores all the urine, represented as plastic bag. urethra-this removes urine from the body, represented as straw. Throughout this project, I thought it was very fun and my group worked very well together with few problems. The only thing that went poorly was having to deal with major set backs such as getting our project destroyed. One thing that i learned was what the small and large intestine did in the digestive system. And a skill that I gained was being able to fill small holes and cracks with hot glue. Two peaks for this project would be getting along with my team members and also having no conflict with one and another. One pitt for this project would be having a major set back due to another group. Also another pitt would be time management, our group struggled in this section. |
