Our Mission:
Our mission was to select an ecosystem, and analyze it for how humans were impacting it. From this, we were to create a plan to solve the issues we encountered. In addition, we were also instructed to actually take action on the subject, and do something that would make a difference. My group and I decided to research the sea otters and after we found out that one of the main problems for their survival is trash in the sea. To help them we put out more trash cans at the beach to encourage people to through away there trash so it does not harm the Sea Otters.
Concepts:
Individual- A single living organism.
Population- A group of homogeneous individual (species) that live in the same habitat (area).
Community- Populations of different species interacting with each other.
Trophic levels- The different steps in a food chain or web, Energy moves flows from the bottom to the top levels.
Producers- Autotrophs that are at the bottom of the food chain.
First Level Consumer- Herbivores in the environment.
2nd Level Consumer- Eat first level consumers.
Top Level Consumer- Eat 2nd level consumers and at the top of the food chain, Can be multiple levels of consumers.
Decomposer- Fungi and bacteria that decompose organic matter.
Autotroph- Use energy from the environment to create their food.
Heterotrophs- Rely on other organisms for energy/food supply.
All of these concept were used in our project and presented in our video above. All of these concepts are connected by having different impacts in our ecosystem and all either benefiting or departmentalizing our organism that we researched.
Reflection:
Through this project, my group worked together very well together and some things that went poorly were interactions involving my group. Two peaks for this project, one of them was the knowledge i gained from all of the research i did on the sea Otters. And another one is working with a different group that I have never worked with before. One pit for this project was time management and another one was getting off task very easily.
